A female suicide bomber early hours of Sunday detonated an explosives strapped to her body during a service at a Redeemed Christian Church in the town of Jigawa in Yobe State, killing five worshippers, alongside the presiding pastor.
The location of the deadly attack, is on the outskirts of Potiskum, the capital of Yobe State in Nigeria’s northeast zone
An eyewitnesses stated that the suicide bomber entered the church during the morning service lifted her clothing and exploded herself, leaving five people dead. Early reports also shown that a yet to be determined number of people sustained various levels of injuries.
This marked the first time the deadly Islamist group will be targeting a church for bombing since President Muhammadu Buhari took over power on May 29, 2015 promising to crack down on the deadly sect.
