Workers of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, today staged a protest over the non-payment of their allowance approved by the federal government since 2013.

The workers, who were members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), barricaded the entrance to the institution, preventing vehicular movement in and out of the university.
It was reported that in previous protest the Chairman of the union, Wole Odewumi, had explained that government had approved the entitlements for all universities since February 1, 2013, and some universities had effected the payment of the money to their workers but OAU has refused comply with the directive.
