President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday July 16, 2015 appointed Writer and Social Media expert, Tolu Ogunlesi, as his Special Assistant on New Media.

According to Premium Times source, Mr. Ogunlesi underwent security screening before his appointment was announced.
He is one of Nigeria’s most active Twitter users. He is one of President Buhari’s strongest supporters amongst Nigerian youths during the 2015 general elections.
Before his appointment, Tolu who was a journalist, poet, photographer and a fiction kwriter contributing articles to various publications, both in Nigeria and abroad. He also syndicated opinion articles in many Nigerian media platform such as Punch, Naij.com, and Sahara reporters, The African reports outside Nigeria.
He had written books such as Conquest and Conviviality (Hodder Education, 2008) – young adult fiction And Listen to the geckos singing from a balcony(Bewrite Books, 2004) – poetry
He won the CNN award in 2013 in another category. Winner, 1st Facebook Poetry Competition, 2007 he was also shortlisted for the inaugural PEN/Studzinski literary prize.
