Four hunters and several Boko Haram sect. Killed in Yobe

Four hunters and several Boko Haram militants were yesterday killed in the early hours of the day when the militants attacked Babbangida, headquarters of Tarmowa LGA of Yobe State.
A Daily Trust source gathered that the militants stormed the town around 6:00am, shooting, burning government buildings and burning several shops. A security chief told Daily trust correspondent that the attack came after an earlier offensive against the militants at their hideout close to Sassawa village, a border village between Damaturu and Tarmowa.

A security personel stated “We carried out an earlier offensive attack on the militants’ base on a tip-off, so the Tarmowa attack may have been a reprisal”.
A hunter also said they lost four men in the encounter but overcame the militants.
“We engaged the terrorists kilometres away from Babbangida town but the damage to property is huge. We lost four men but many of them were killed. My close friend Garba Baduku is among the four”, he said.
Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Samaila Mai Adamu, confirmed the attack, saying many buildings were set ablaze.
“We all scampered for safety. The LGA secretariat and DPO’s house are among places burnt”, a resident, Malam Yale Babbangida, said.
He said the insurgents were sighted by villagers from the eastern part of the town.
“We reported the matter to security operatives. Many residents have fled”, he added.
